I wanted a small device on my desk with Rick on the screen. I gave Grok the build and tried it on a real CoreS3 board. The interface appeared on the board, but the colours still needed work. Voice control and catching me picking up my phone were ideas I wanted to build next, not features I proved in this recording.

My small AI device and the screen design from the build

What did I want Rick to do?

I wanted to say “Hey, Rick” and give him something to do. One idea was a focus timer. I could tell him I wanted to work for 30 minutes, and keep the device next to my computer.

There is a little camera on the board. I wanted it to see when I picked up my phone and tell me to put it down.

Those are goals. In this session I was still working on the screen, the character and getting the build onto the board.

What happened when Grok started building?

At one point I stopped and said I should read the plan before the process started. It was building something, but I did not know what it did.

That is the advice I would keep from this part: check the spec, the document that says what the agent is supposed to build.

Then came the permission prompts. I kept approving things until I wanted to press deny. Eventually the approvals went through and I could get back to the build.

Why did I choose that version of Rick?

I looked at different faces. I first leaned toward number three, then changed my mind and picked number two.

I wanted him to wave. A face that looks good in one picture is only part of what I need when I want the character to move.

I also questioned the numbers on the screen. How much AI worked and how much I worked are different things. The stats looked cool, but I needed to understand what they meant. The displayed design numbers are not a verified bill or measurement of this session.

What worked on the real device?

The design on my computer looked good. Then I held the actual board up to the camera.

The interface was there. The colours still needed help, and I could not show them properly on camera. That is the result I have in this recording.

Part What I actually showed
Character Different Rick designs and my choice
Screen The design preview and the interface on the board
Colours A problem that still needed work
Voice and focus camera Ideas for what I want to build next

The camera was also running low on battery. I thought the device battery might be causing lag, but I did not prove that diagnosis.

Does the recording show voice control working?

No. I explain what I want to say to Rick. I do not demonstrate finished voice control.

Does Rick catch me picking up my phone?

No. That is an idea for the little camera. This recording does not show it working.

Is the device finished?

No. It shows the interface, but the colours need work. I say that at the end.

More about what I build. I also wrote about two AI models building the same founder game.
