Rick, my chief of staff, spun up a bot to cover a Galaxy session I don't want to stay up for. A second bot searched Reddit for a Chemistrie clip-on complaint and came back with a screenshot I can read. The third job, an imported code auditor, hit an access error. You need Grok Bot and an X login.

Setup and how it compares

Download Grok Bot and log in with an X account. The first thing to build is a chief of staff, the main bot that talks to every other bot. Mine is Rick.

Hermes Agent and Grok Bot are the two I use, and they trade off in opposite directions.

  • Hermes Agent has a lot of bugs, and you can run any model you want with it
  • Grok Bot is well polished, and Grok 4.6 is the only model it runs

Livestream notes and Reddit research

Grok Bot Galaxy is an xAI education event, with sessions for product managers, founders, sales engineers, SDRs and customer support. The SDR session lands at 11:30 pm my time, late at night, and I pass on it. Chemistrie sells glasses, runs mainly B2B and wants to move to DTC, so I want to know what people say about the clip-ons.

The Reddit bot came back with a complaint. The technician who had cut that customer's magnetic lenses was now working hundreds of miles away, and a fresh one could only be made with the full glasses in hand. The workaround in the post is a second pair. The same search can run as a daily or weekly digest, and the notifications ping my phone like a chat.

  • I asked Rick to set up a bot that watches day two of Galaxy, writes up the notes and turns them into an action plan for customer support
  • That bot runs on its own Linux desktop, not on my computer, and presses its own buttons
  • For Chemistrie I created a bot called Chemistrie Reddit for one purpose
  • I asked it to search Reddit for Chemistrie clip-ons and return one screenshot of a question or complaint I can use for the business

Importing the code auditor

The marketplace holds plugins for your bots and templates other people built. Nightly Audit Engineer audits a codebase, and Grok 4.6 is good at coding. Importing the template is one press, and it then asks you to create routines and write memories.

The run answered that the research worker could not reach my Mac. Grok Bot then agreed it is on the Mac and can open files, and said a separate background helper was the piece that failed. I'm not a code guru, and I'm learning coding as I go.

  • Point it at the Chemistrie folder in projects on the computer
  • Ask it to monitor the dashboard code and keep it clean and readable
  • I have not started the routine yet, so this run is a one-off request

Learning this as I go

I'm a professional basketball player who now knows what GitHub is, what a PR is, what a codebase is, and I record videos about them. Start with work you already have: a meeting you don't want to attend, or something you don't want to read. If you start today, tomorrow you know more than you know today. Leave me a real task in the comments and I'll try it with Grok Bot.
